Basecourse: 0-80mm in size. These are mixed rocks, sand and silty soils generally used as road base.
Filling materials: These are sum of rocks and other hard, inert materials that are usually used for backfills or as sub-base for driveways and pathways.
A mixture of dark bituminous pitch with sand or gravel, used for surfacing roads, flooring, roofing, etc.
Ballast: These are the coarsest form of aggregates. Generally used for concrete mixes, in concreting foundations, in filling gaps and even used as a stability-aid for vehicles, boats, and ships.
